Whitehouse High School accounting students gained special insight into the workings of governmental accounting.

Students in Jon Sheppard’s accounting class visited with Whitehouse Independent School District administration accounting staff members as part of a discussion based learning project. Students were informed about the policies and procedures that must be followed in governmental accounting. They discussed different careers and roles in the WISD accounting department. Staff members further discussed what it means to use local tax and state funds to operate a school district.

Students were prompted to ask questions and staff members gave answers. “We are extremely honored anytime we are able to engage with our Whitehouse ISD students,” said Clint Ray, WISD Chief Financial Officer. “This event serves as a good platform to educate students about an often times lesser known area of the accounting profession."
