HOLLOWAY STUDENT PARTICIPATES IN THE CHEROKEE COUNTY JR. LIVE-STOCK SHOW

Community

Emmy Walley is an 11 year old student at Holloway 6th Grade School who is part of the Lookout 4-H Chapter. On March 27th and 28th, she participated in the Cherokee County Jr. Livestock Show held in Jacksonville, Texas. She showed her dairy heifer in the 6 to 12 month class. Her heifer was awarded a blue ribbon for placing 3rd out of 7 at the show. Emmy was also awarded a silver belt buckle for champion showmanship. Emmy’s 4-H chapter also won the Heardmanship and Queen Contest as well as 4-H Chapter of the year.
 

WJHS STUDENTS SKYPE WITH MICROSOFT EXECUTIVE

A group of Whitehouse Junior High School 8th grade students were given the opportunity to participate in some career exploration when Mr. Goodson's Technology Applications students used Skype to talk with Gavin Benedict, a programmer who writes code for Microsoft.

The sessions began with a short biography in which Benedict described how his career path led to Microsoft. The floor was then opened to students’ questions. The questions ranged from serious, such as "How does someone get started with computer programing?" to silly, including "What was your most embarrassing moment?" Goodson stated that the entire experience was very positive and that students will have additional opportunities to talk with other professionals in the future.
 
 

WILDCATS AND COATS FOR KIDS 2011

Community

Whitehouse Jr. High School and the Wildcat Student Council partcipated in the 2011 Coats for Kids Drive during the month of October. For the 10th year in a row, WJHS won the Coats for Kids contest for East Texas. WJHS students collected a total of 732 coats for the drive this year. The winning class for 20ll was Ms. Penney’s 5th period Technology Applications class with a total of 96 coats. GO WILDCATS!
 

2014 COLLEGE BOARD AP SCHOLAR AWARDS

Academic News
Seventeen students from Whitehouse High School have earned the designation of AP SCHOLAR by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement Program (AP) Exams in the spring of 2014.

P B AND J CHALLENGER 2014

District News

WJHS Journalism Department and the Art Department hosted the 1st Annual Peanut Butter and Jelly Challenge to benefit PATH (People Attempting to Help). Ms. Conn’s 5th period American History class was the winner of the contest, collecting over 50 jars.
