Whitehouse Independent School District School Board members reviewed a preliminary report on the WISD facilities study during last night’s school board meeting.

A presentation was given by Dr. Arnold Oates of Texas School Planning, Inc., who is consulting with WISD to evaluate the facilities, economic trends and current and future needs of the District. The study began in the spring of 2013.

A special school board meeting followed by a board workshop is scheduled for August 5, 2014 at 6 p.m. in the WISD Annex to extensively review the data, recommendations and information collected by Dr. Oates.

WISD board members also filled four professional positions during Monday’s meeting. Claire Cooper, Sarah Dillingham, Jill Nelson and Charity Shipman were all approved for hire by the school board.

In other business, the WISD School Board:

Approved portions of the salary scales in the WISD Compensation Plan;
Approved the Region 10 ESC Inter-Agency Agreement for school nutrition for the 2014-2015 school year;
Approved with amendments the District Improvement Plan for the 2014-2015 school year;
Approved bus routes for the 2014-2015 school year;
Approved the out of state trip for the high school band students;
Reviewed informational items including new hires and resignations, summary of student drug test results, technology plan, athletic events with restricted areas: sideline personnel guidelines and tentative board meeting locations for 2014-2015 school year.
