Whitehouse Independent School District School Board members accepted a donation in the amount of $22,000 from the Whitehouse ISD Education Foundation during the audience portion of Monday’s regular school board meeting. The money will be used to fund several innovative teaching grants in various classrooms across the district.

In other business during Monday’s meeting, board members:

Held a public hearing on the Texas Academic Performance Report;

Heard one participant speak during Open Forum;

Approved the minutes, financial reports, tax report and donations;

Heard a report on board training required by House Bill 2563 and discussed future board training;

Approved “Always Changing” video for curriculum;

Reviewed informational items, including new hires and resignations/terminations, the NCLB highly qualified report for 2014-2015 showing that 100% of WISD teachers met the highly qualified standards for the 10th consecutive year, and the 2014-2015 District Wellness Plan;

Participated in the WISD facilities workshop. During the workshop, board members heard a presentation related to the history of grade alignment, campus usage, and bond history, followed by a discussion of various planning scenarios.
